I began working on this new cycle of paintings in early 2019. It aims to arrive at my own interpretation of images of personalities representing various cultures and/or symbolic ideas. So far, I have created a few portraits: that of the Warrior Saint, the Roman, the Female Ruler, the Satrap, the Keepers of the Light, and the Trigger Woman, a symbolic figure who tends to appear just at the cusp of change from one period to another in life. More are foreseen in the future.

Some of these existed, others probably did not. However, all hold a place in history and most of them, as well as the myths and legends surrounding them, are overshadowed by darkness of time. No matter how their images reappear in the light at present, their essence and meaning remains in the shadows of the passing times.

This cycle goes back to using crystal elements, but in a much more elaborate way combining various sizes and colours, thus creating an ever more fairy-tale like appearance. It also involves very intricate and detailed decorative elements which make part of the images to look as if they have been cast over by old lace, thus giving them an air of otherworldliness. Yet, their eyes are sharply focused towards our times.
